The story of
Virginia “Ginny” Braun, age 79, of Flint Michigan, was born the daughter of Michael and Anne (Divorty) Castro on February 24, 1945, in London England. Ginny came to the US in January of 1946 via the SS Argentina and her family settled in Allen Park, Michigan. Ginny was an excellent student, graduated from Flint Southwestern, Alma College, and finally earning a Master of Science in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan. Ginny went on to a long career in Real Estate in the greater Flint Michigan area, working at Gil Sabuco, Prudential, and Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate. Ginny lived for over 55 years in the Mott Park area raising her son Ted. She was full of life, living with a constant passion, strength, and commitment to her friends, family, community, and work. Ginny was never afraid to tell it like it was, always enjoyed life to its fullest, and was immensely proud of and loved her family, especially her granddaughters. Ginny was a dedicated and proud member of her community, devoting years to volunteer work in the Mott Park and Kettering University areas, as well as throughout greater Flint. She earned her Master Gardener certification through Michigan State University and used this knowledge in the creation and maintenance of gardens funded by various grants, often from the Ruth Mott Foundation, worked with Kettering University students on annual neighborhood cleanups, and held numerous volunteer roles across the Flint area. Ginny passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024 in Phoenix Arizona. She was proceeded in death by her parents. Ginny is survived by her son Ted (wife Aki), granddaughters Haruka and Erika, brother Mike, niece & nephew Cori & Joe, sister Sally, and other loved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Ginny also kept good relations with her former husband Steve, sister-in-law Laurel, niece Amanda, and brother-in-law Mark. There will be a celebration of life for Ginny on Saturday March 15th from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at: 3108 Gehring Dr, Flint, MI 48506 Please contact Ted Braun at ted.j.braun@gmail.com if you would like to join the celebration.
