The story of
Valentina D Garibay, born Nov 29, 1931 in San Antonio, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Nov 27, 2024 in Phoenix with her family, just two days short of her 93rd birthday. She is survived by her daughters Yolanda and Sylvia of Phoenix, Beatrice of Yuma, and sons Juan (Marcia) of Kansas, and Alfonso of Phoenix. She was so proud of her grandchildren Anthony, Andre, Alex, Carmen and Becky, and was overjoyed with her great grand children Joslyn, MerryAnne, Mary, Isaiah, Talia, Evelyn and still in production, Abel. She is also survived by sisters Pat, Esther, Nora, Anita, Yolanda and brother Joe, all back home in Texas, along with many nieces and nephews in TX, AZ, CA and NC. She is preceded in death by her parents Gabino and Juanita Dominguez, sisters Amy, Terry, Rose, Ida, Mary, and brothers Johnny, Junior, Victor, Esau and Philip. Mom was a proud Marine wife and our compass, counselor, comforter and hero. She loved to square dance and sewed her own twirling skirted dresses and dad’s matching shirts. She painted, played the accordion, bowled, fished, and had a beautiful singing voice for gospel songs in English and Spanish. She was once featured in the Yuma, AZ newspaper for her talents of quilting and ceramics. She loved growing chilis, and her tamales were the best ever made. Her patio sales were epic and collecting things for them was a life long mission. Going to the casino was a big treat for her and she always managed to hit the bonus round features! Mom beat the odds at education too, returning to school at age 49 to get her GED, then continuing on to become a CNA, providing tender patient care up to retirement. Above all, our mom loved the Lord with all her heart and her parting words to each of us were to always keep Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of our lives. We tremendously admire, respect, honor, and love our sweet mom, mama, grandma, Gigi, sister, aunt, and Godmother, and will greatly miss her until we see her again in Heaven ourselves some wonderful day.
