Thomas Page Thurston our beloved son and brother has passed away. He was born May 1, 1963 at Beaumont Army Hospital at FT. Bliss, TX. As a baby and continuing through his teen years Tom endured with courage and good humor, many surgeries on his feet and legs. It was with pride that he played sports, enjoyed art and loved music. Tom also had great fun discovering computers: how they worked and how to restore them. In his teen years he became so adept at working with computers he was asked to run an office for Davis Airlines in Germany where the family was stationed. After graduating college and moving to Phoenix he became a flight attendant for America West Airlines, another job he loved. During this time, he also started a small music business which was still active until his passing. Tom continued his career path in computers working for Bank America and J.P. Morgan Chase. Finally, his curiosity and technical interest sent him back to school for a master’s degree in Business Technology. He then started his own computer company. Tom’s life was centered on computers, technology and volunteerism. He built computers for those in need and for volunteer agencies, provided computers, information, and instruction on usage. He was generous with his time and truly committed to giving back to his community for which he will be greatly missed. We will miss him, his smile, his jokes, his caring heart. We, his family, are grateful he was part of our lives. A close friend said of Tom, “He would always lend a hand.” We knew he would. Thomas was preceded in passing by his father, Joe, and survived by his mother, Jan, sisters Jennifer and Elizabeth and younger brother Joseph. He also had several nieces and nephews and many cousins. In lieu of flowers a donation to a favorite charity in Tom’s memory would be appreciated. It is said “Always leave a place better than you found it” and he did.
