The story of
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Terrie Lee Huckaby, who left us on June 29, 2024 in Aurora, CO. Born on May 13, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA, Terrie will be profoundly missed by her two beloved children, her daughter Sydney Quigle, and her son Ian MacLeod. Terrie was preceeded in death by her father Charles Weldon Huckaby Jr, her mother Margaret Dorris Green, her brother Charles Weldon Huckaby III, and her brother Ronald Lee Huckaby. Taking flight from Evergreen High School in Washington in 1974, Terrie embarked on journey that led her to college, the Peace Corps, and the military. She was honorably discharged from the United States Airforce. In 1989, Terrie graduated from Pima Community College of Arizona with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Programming/Analyst. In 1990, Terrie graduated from Marylhurst College of Oregon with a Bachelors of Science in Management. Following this, she had a fulfilling career as a caregiver, working primarily with premature babies and developmentally delayed for 30+ years. Moving to Colorado in 1996, Terrie also worked at Safeway before finally retiring in 2020. After retirement, Terrie continued to run a loving host home. She touched many lives with her compassion and love, and her spirit will continue to shine bright in the memories of those who knew her. Terrie wore many hats throughout her life. She was not only a devoted mother and grandmother, but also a passionate volunteer. Her love for animals and community led her to lend her time and energy to various organizations including 4-H, National Western Stock Show, and Denkai Animal Shelter. On May 31, 2021, Terrie experienced the joy of becoming a grandmother. Her world revolved around cherishing those special moments with her granddaughter, Wyleigh. She also dearly enjoyed spending time with Maija, her granddaughter through marriage. Additionally, Terrie loved visiting her horse, Austin, and engaging in her favorite activities like the psychic practice and book clubs. Her love for life was evident in her varied interests. Terrie was often found engrossed in reading and enjoyed country music. She was an avid reader, reading hundreds if not thousands of books in her lifetime. Terrie especially enjoyed reading books about health, healing, crystals, spiritual experiences, and horoscopes. She was devoted to healing her body naturally and found much joy and interest in books that supported this. To relax, she enjoyed staying home, playing Sudoku, making pottery, and gardening. Her favorite color, purple, reflected her personality—loving, supportive, and the ultimate caregiver. Terrie firmly believed that everything happened exactly the way it was supposed to and was able to share this peace of mind with many. She always knew what to say and provided the best comfort to those in need. Terrie made many sacrifices to offer opportunities to others. Among her many accomplishments, the ones she was most proud of were being a mom and a grandma. Terrie was also proud to be a Triple Negative Breast Cancer Survivor in 2016. As we mourn Terrie's passing, we also celebrate her life. A life that taught us the importance of being our authentic selves, trusting the happenings of life, and sharing more love and compassion. Her legacy is a testament to the world's need for more caring hearts like hers. A Celebration of Life for Terrie will be held on July 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM at 6020 Highway 79, Bennett, CO 80102. We invite all to join us in reminiscing about her beautiful journey and celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman. Terrie was casual and laid back, so this celebration will be too! Please dress however you feel comfortable. We will be serving pizza, wine, and beer - one of Terrie's favorite meals! For those that knew Terrie, knew that she was a "stuff" lady. She loved her stuff and sharing her stuff with others! We will be sharing some of her clothes, books, pictures, and crystals for you to take as a keepsake of Terrie. If you feel up to it, we ask that you please write down/bring a memory, story, photograph, or something you love about Terrie. These items will be used to create a Terrie Huckaby Memorial scrapbook! Please RVSP to Sydney (720) 620-7356 by 07/25/2024 for Terrie's Celebration of Life! 💜💜💜
