ROSEMARY “ROSE” GOFF
September 16, 1943-April 10, 2025
Rose was born the fifth of nine children on September 16, 1943, in Detroit Lakes, MN. Her much anticipated birth came just in time as the family was about to auction their farm and move to a warmer climate. Father, Carl, was an evangelical pastor who traveled with his wife, Mildred, and family around the country doing tent revivals, working as a farmer, and growing a very large family, mostly on the road! After much travel around the country, the family finally settled in
Okanogan, Washington, with Rose attending Omak High School where she met her future husband, Bill DeWitt.
Rose and Bill were married October 18, 1961, and started a family with son, Steve. They relocated to western Washington and had another son, Mark,
followed by Deborah being born here in Seattle. Rose was an independent woman with a strong spirit. She and Bill were married for 18 years, eventually divorcing. Once the kids were grown and moved out, Rose relocated to Omak once again, where she met husband, Donnie Ball, a drummer in a local band.
Rose found a love for music and became a bass guitar player with a band called “Loose Change” that played around local clubs and festivals, including the Omak Stampede. Rose also played with a locally-famous musician, Bonnie Guitar, and loved her time playing music. She and Donnie divorced much later and she eventually had to retire from music and move back to western Washington to be near her now grown and married kids.
Rose settled in Bonney Lake with sister, Esther, and, due to health problems, had moved in with Deborah and her family just this past December. Her life was long and well lived. Rose passed away on April 10, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Sam, Ted, Alan, Don, and sister, Cathy. She is survived by her younger sisters, Esther, Rebecca, and Jeannie, her three children, Steve (Sandi), Mark, and Deborah (Alex), seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren She will be missed.
