The story of
Robert “Bob” Louis Wall passed away peacefully surrounded by family at OHSU Hospital in Portland, Oregon Friday morning Oct. 6, 2023. He was 64. Robert was born 1/26/1959 in Omak, Washington. He is preceded in death by his mother Alice Wall, brothers Scott Jones, Michael McCallum & Michael Roberts. Bob is survived by Wife Janice, Father Robert, Sisters Renee & Teresa, Daughters Arijana & Jaclyn (David), Sons Bradley (Stephanie) & Michael (Quincy) along with 5 grandsons (Zachary, Carter, Benjamin, Aspen, Bodhi) and 2 granddaughters (Georgia & Emily). Bob attended elementary school through 5th grade at Christ the King Elementary in Omak. In 6th grade he transferred to Okanogan Jr. High, convincing his parents to let him play football. Bob enjoyed telling the story of playing against his elementary school friend, George Howe, in a High School game, and the two crashing helmets and almost knocking each other out. He graduated from Okanogan HS in 1977, where he constantly spent time with life-long friends outdoors playing more football, hiking and rappelling down mountains/cliffsides. Bob welcomed his first child Arijana in 1980. Bob met his wife Janice after she moved to the Okanogan/Omak area to work at the Crown Zellerbach plant in 1984. Bob asked Jan out on a date, coincidentally right after she had bought a brand-new Camaro – though he swore that was not the reason he asked her out. They were inseparable from there and would relocate to the Vancouver, Washington area to work and raise a family. He worked at Allweather Wood for over 25 years and capped his career at Honsador Lumber, retiring in June 2022 and celebrating with a family trip to Hawaii’s big island. His work ethic is an inspiration to his children and grandchildren but the day that he finally retired was one of celebration for the family. Bob had many hobbies over the years including woodworking, golfing, hiking, bicycling, backpacking, dirt-biking, boating, photography and water/snow skiing. He was a devoted Pacific Northwest sports fan win or lose, following the Seahawks, Blazers, Mariners and many area college teams. An incredibly proud dad, he loved watching his kids compete in various sports and performing arts – even helping coach some of his sons’ baseball teams. Bob loved taking his family out on their boat, having his first mate daughter Jackie at his side helping him. He may have taken a little too much pride in dumping his sons, particularly his youngest Mike, and grandsons off the innertube, sharing numerous laughs in the process. They took several summer trips to Lake Chelan – one of his favorite places. He also enjoyed snow skiing, enjoying trips to coveted areas like Mt. Hood, Mt. Bachelor, Whistler, Lake Tahoe and Park City. He proudly followed his son Brad’s track career at Evergreen HS and Eastern Washington University, watching him win a state title his senior year in 2008 and traveling to see him win multiple Big Sky Conference titles while setting school records in the 400-meter dash. (Bob did most of the bragging for Brad). Bob’s father taught him the love of woodworking, a hobby now spanning generations between them, Brad and Renee’s son Phillip. A gifted and talented woodworker, Bob spent hours upon hours in his wood shop, creating amazing works of art such as clocks, candle holders, jewelry boxes, tables, toys for his grandkids and whatever other projects Jan had up her sleeve for him to take on. His son Mike loved shopping for and gifting him beautiful pieces of wood throughout the years, adding to Bob’s inspiration to create more masterpieces. Bob lived for the payoff of seeing people’s surprise/reaction when he gifted them something he hand-crafted with love. It is now those gifts from the heart that we will cherish the most. He always enjoyed rounds of golf with his sons and many other friends and relatives through the years while playing at probably hundreds of courses ranging from Washington state to Hawaii, Mexico and many other areas all over the western United States. Bob faced many health battles involving his kidneys, heart and melanoma. He received one of the most important gifts of life in 1998 when his sister Renee graciously donated him a kidney. That gift helped add 26+ years for Bob to spend even more quality time with his family and meet his beloved grandchildren. We will forever be grateful for the gift of time that our family received. While there is never enough time, many memories were fit into those additional years. His kindness, heart and perseverance as a husband, dad, grandfather and friend will live on in all of us. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Oct. 22nd in Camas, WA.
