Robert Earl Blix “Bob” (81)
Born May 5, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN, Bob Blix went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2023 in AZ.
Bob graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. He enjoyed baseball, football, hockey and ski jumping for the Roosevelt Teddies. Bob will be remembered as an outdoor enthusiast and for the grateful experiences he provided his children— camping and boating on the St. Croix River, fishing on Mille Lacs, Saturdays in Blizzard Ski School, skiing at Trollhaugen, and summer weekends at the Hayward, WI boathouse with his grandkids.
Bob was a member of the IBEW where he was an excellent electrician. When there was no work in MN, Bob and his buddies worked on the Alaskan Pipeline from 1976 to 1978. He became a foreman and was working 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week. He succeeded to become an estimator, vice president and part owner of Collins Electric Company. Retired at age 55, Bob continued working part time jobs at the Home Depot and True Value stores in the electrical department and also enjoyed doing electrical projects for strangers, family and friends.
During retirement, golf became Bob’s next greatest passion in life. He golfed in AZ in the winter months and Hayward, WI in the summer. In AZ and WI he took the initiative to set up and run golf leagues and tournaments. His AZ group was known as Blixer’s Mixers. He was shooting his age at 79 and was always trying to perfect the impossible perfect game.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Earl Blix, survived by his life-long partner, Zaila Michelson, his sister Jane (Norm joined Bob on June 2, 2023), his children Gary, Mike, (Lori), Sandy (Scott), Brett, 6 grandkids, 2 great-grandchildren and two nieces.
