The story of
Silence came with the rising of the moon…Dick’s spirit left us, and soared to the planets and constellations he eagerly studied. He gathered up the love we shared during our 45+ year marriage, and our wishes that we had married sooner. Took with him the love of his adoring daughters, their mates, and our two beautiful granddaughters. He wore the pride of having worked with the best in the television business on Metromedia’s Stage 7, with Golden West, Gene Autry, Ralph Edwards, Norman Lear, and the pioneer broadcasters at WMAQ-TV, during the wonderful days of early television. He had been technical director on shows like: Three’s Company, Sister, Sister, Different Strokes, Good Times, Adventures in Wonderland. Dick did MLB and NBA games, NHL and college hockey, Lacrosse, all in the US, and Skating World Championships in Japan. He was technical director for CBC coverage of the Salt Lake Olympics, and for two US political conventions. When he left us, his pockets were stuffed with the everlasting love of his parents, Joe and Ann, and his pride in being from South Bend. He was cloaked in the reminiscences of his daughters Greta and Karina who were, with Nancy, by his side constantly the past 6 days, following hospice directions, tenderly keeping him comfortable. Dick’s Mom had always said he was named for Richard the Lionhearted. He was brave during every rotten diagnosis over the past 12 years. His battle is over now. He won it his way. Dick was a wise, talented, clever, funny, and selfless man. We were so blessed that he was ours. We will love you for always, Dick! Nancy Dick proudly served in the US Air Force from 1963-1967. He was stationed primarily in Bremerhaven, Germany. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
