The story of
Paul Joseph Murphy, age 60, of Sequim, WA, passed away on Friday, August 31st, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on August 11, 1963, in Hyde Park, NY, to the late Robert and Phyllis Murphy. He graduated from F.D. Roosevelt High School and went on to serve his country with honor as a United States Marine. After his military service, Paul dedicated himself to a noble cause, becoming a teacher. He used his passion and skills to guide and support challenged children, helping them find a brighter path in life. In his memory, Paul is survived by his beloved children: Connor Murphy of Atlanta, GA, Ryan Murphy, and Keith Murphy of Portland, OR. He is also survived by his caring siblings: Daniel and Joanne Murphy of Rhinecliff, NY, William Murphy and Margi Sackett of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Stephen Nancy Murphy of Poughkeepsie, NY. Additionally, he leaves behind his devoted girlfriend, Diane Patricia Hughes of Sequim, Washington, who was a constant source of love and support throughout his journey. In his spare time, Paul found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of the NewYork Yankees and the Washington Commanders (formerly known as the Redskins). He cherished the serenity of nature and often explored the depths of the woods through walking and hiking. In accordance with his wishes, Paul has been cremated, and a private service will be held to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. Paul's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his life. He will forever be remembered for his dedication to his country, his students, and his unwavering love for his family. May he rest in eternal peace.
