The story of
Melvin (Mel) C. Johnson 71, passed away with family by his side on July 3rd, 2024 in Arizona. He was born October 21,1952 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Delbert and Florence (Stowell) Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Lynna (Spath) Johnson of Arizona; daughters Rebecca (Tim) Leanhart of Texas, Brittany Johnson of Arizona; son Joshua Johnson of Nebraska; brothers Eugene (Gloria) Johnson, Roger (Kitty) Johnson, Vernon Johnson all of Nebraska; sister Debbie (Ken) Leinweber of Arizona; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Delbert & Florence Johnson, son Jason Johnson and brother Keith Johnson. Mel loved his career in the HVAC field doing different jobs and holding many titles over his 40 year career. If he couldn’t fix it or have a solution no one could! One of his longest employers being Parker (Dayco) in Nebraska. He worked in Wyoming, Colorado and his favorite and most recent employment before his retirement was with the Arizona Grand Resort in Arizona. Mel always had a smile for everyone and maybe a funny saying or joke. While he missed his Nebraska family and friends he loved living in Arizona. No more snow or better yet scooping snow, plenty of sunshine so he could play his golf. His famous saying was “I can scoop a lot of sunshine”! He was an avid collector of cribbage boards and enjoyed his collection of Eagles. He was a huge football fan especially the Nebraska Huskers and his favorite Kansas City Chiefs. A celebration of life will be held in Nebraska at a later date. Donations may be made to the Ultimate Pulmonary Wellness Foundation or the COPD Foundation.
