Mary Lou Veronica Labor (nee Donhue) died peacefully on April 28, 2023, surrounded by her family. Mary Lou was born to James Clarence and Margueritte Donahue on December 9, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the youngest of their three children. She grew up in Philadelphia where she attended St. Bartholomew Catholic School and then St. Huberts High School where she graduated.
She met her husband, Frank, while out on the town with her friends in Philadelphia in 1967. She had no interest in marriage at the time but Frank’s tenacity eventually won out and they were married on October 24, 1970. They had two children, Renee and Desiree, before moving their family out West to Colorado.
Mary Lou never met a stranger. She was active in her communities, loving to serve those around her. She was an enthusiastic cheerleader and endless supporter of her family and friends. She worked hard to make sure everyone around her felt loved and like they were the most exceptional person she knew. She clapped and cheered for all her accomplishments - from finding the right puzzle piece to achieving the biggest goals. Her optimism brought hope and confidence to all around her. She often expressed how she felt honored to be befriended by so many.
In her later years she went on some grand adventures - living on the side of Pikes Peak in an off-grid way point for hikers with her daughter, Renee, and son-in-law, Anthony, and then later living with them in a camper as they traveled the US. She briefly picked up running at age 70 and won numerous age-group awards in 5K races. She enjoyed doting on and cheering for her two grandchildren, Isa and Evvia.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father, James Clarence Donahue; her mother, Margueritte Donahue; her sister Peggy Ann Donahue; her sister-in-law Elizabeth Donahue; and her brother, Robert Donahue. She is survived by her husband, Frank Labor; her daughter, Renee Duricy (Anthony); her daughter, Desiree Labor; and her granddaughters, Isa and Evvia Duricy.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and her memory will live on in them.
