Malva Matilde Ramirez de Ruival
3/3/1939 – 3/26/2025
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my mother, Malva Matilde Ruival, age 86, of Phoenix, Arizona, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Mom was born to Antonio Ramirez and Rosa Fernandez on March 3, 1939, in Flores, Uruguay. Her parents had seventeen children; Mom was the fifteenth. Mom moved to New Jersey in 1975; she also lived in California and most recently in Arizona.
Mom was a devoted wife to Juan José Leopoldo Ruival (deceased) and a loving mother of Maria Gabriela and Juan Carlos.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria, and husband, Michael; her son, Carlos, and wife, Laura; her grandchildren, Jessica, Malachi, Megan, Michelle, Sofia, and Dylan; her sister, Elsa; nephew, Anthony; and great-niece, Jordyn, all from California. Mom also has extended family in Uruguay.
Mom was a seamstress by trade and owned an interior decorating business in the 80s; sewing was her passion. Mom also did upholstery and loved knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitch.
Mom loved to watch Bob Ross and painted beautiful oil canvases. She was an amazing cook, having grown up with home-cooked meals daily.
In the last decade or so, she knitted baby hats for local hospitals, and everyone she met received a handmade hat and scarf set.
It was Mom's wish to be cremated and have her ashes scattered at the lake in a beloved park in New Jersey, where she spent countless hours feeding the squirrels from her hand.
I cannot possibly summarize her 86 years of life in a few pages, but I wish for her to be remembered for her willingness to help (hopefully, this rubbed off on me) and her hardworking, go-getter attitude.
She was loved and cared for and will be terribly missed.
