The story of Kyla
Kyla Kay (Gruber) Jackson, 81, died on February 16, 2022, in Mesa, AZ. She was born to Fred A. and Betty J. Gruber in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa on December 16, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Jerry A. Jackson, of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Marilea Ann Morris (Patrick), of Waukee, IA and Roma L. Hood of Mesa, AZ; son, Jeffrey B. Jackson of Minot, ND.; her sister Tracy Israel (Jim) of Newton, IA; brothers Nick Gruber, of Waukee, IA and Jacob Gruber (Dixie), of Des Moines, IA, Luke Gruber (Deanne) of Urbandale, IA, Mark Gruber of Waukee, IA, and Kelly Gruber (Darcey) of Waukee, IA; as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. After graduating from high school in Waukee, Iowa, Kyla married Jerry in Sept. of 1958. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for a few years and a homemaker in Waukee while her children were in school. She then served in the financial services industry at previous residences in Pine Bluff, AR, Galveston, TX and Des Moines. IA. Kyla enjoyed reading, playing bridge, movies, lunches with friends/family, collecting recipes, and especially traveling with her husband, Jerry. Kyla’s cremains will be transported to Waukee, IA where service arrangements are pending until late spring or early summer of 2022, with burial at a family plot in the Booneville, Iowa cemetery (date to be announced).
