The story of
Kori Mayfield was a brilliant and selfless woman who was hitting her stride in a life that she truly loved living. She was taken from her family and friends much too soon after suffering a severe brain bleed due to a complication from surgery to remove an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation.) Kori grew up in Johnstown CO and graduated from Roosevelt High School where she juggled her academics with extracurriculars like managing the basketball, track and cross-country teams and being the president of the Future Business Leaders of America club. She went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Economics. Kori’s degree led her to her dream job as a Federal Bank Examiner. Kori truly loved her job and loved going to work. When Kori wasn’t working she found joy and delight in a wide variety of hobbies and interests. She loved the theater, movies, musicals and all kinds of concerts. She was an excellent crafter and loved to create something unique and beautiful for her friends and family. Those who knew her, all agree she gave the best and most personal gifts. Her true passion was Disney as evidenced by her collection of ears, clothes, movies and memorabilia. Her vacations almost always revolved around a Disney theme park. At the very heart of Kori was her family. Kori spent her early years with her mom and grandparents Mikey and Dee Dee. To say Kori was close to her grandparents is an understatement. When Kori was nine, Lauren (Weinmeister) came into her mom’s life and soon became her second dad. While Kori and her mom were truly best friends and had similar tastes, Lauren frequently found himself at shows and concerts that he really would have preferred not to go to but he went out of love for his girls. Kori was a fantastic big sister to her “little” brother Kale, Although he knew how to push her buttons and make her crazy, she was always one of his biggest supporters. Her father Lance Mayfield and his wife Lucia, who live in California, gave her a love of the ocean and amusement parks. Kori always had some kind of adventure to look forward to over summer vacations with them. Kori was a woman of God. She found another family at Immanuel Lutheran. She had a deep faith and found joy in serving the church. Kori came into this world at 10:40 AM on December 4, 1996. She lived for 10,015 days, far too few. While Kori’s life on this earth has ended, we are comforted knowing that her heart beats on; that another person will live because Kori lived and selflessly chose to be an organ donor. A celebration of life will be held for Kori On Friday, June 28 at 11 AM. A late lunch will be served after. The celebration will Be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 4650 Sunview Dr., Loveland, CO. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Imannuel Lutheran Church, Loveland CO, the American Cancer Society, or The American Diabetes Association.
