The story of
Joseph Thomas Mitchell of New River, Arizona, passed unexpectedly on March 28th with his loving wife and soulmate Lucy at his side; he was 46. Joe (or Joey to his dear family) is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lucy Mitchell (formerly Dastrup) who was his soul partner in life and to whom he was unwaveringly devoted. He is also survived by his two beautiful daughters Illyana (14) and Moira (12), who were and will forever be the very essence of his soul. Joey leaves the broken heart of his immensely proud mother Dianne Fiore of Scottsdale and her husband Brian Meece. Joe is also survived by his remaining Scottsdale family members; eldest sister Caron Jacques, her husband Trevor, their daughters Kylie Jacques Proctor & Madison Jacques and his two great nieces, Taytum & Violet Proctor. Joe also lives on through his older sister Tamara Barile and husband David of Clovis, California and their sons, Kristjan & Matthew. His legacy lives on and is held in admiration by a plethora of family and friends around the country. He is also the son of the late Tom Mitchell of Park City, Kentucky and stepson of Jody Solis-Mitchell. Born in Fresno, California, Joe will be remembered for his loving, generous nature and unwavering devotion to family. Lucy and his daughters were at the very core of his essence. Joe made those closest to him his entire world and thus, they were the better for it. He leaves an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to call him blood, friend, or simply someone that had the pleasure of meeting him. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his clean way of life was admired by all. He believed that anything we do to better ourselves means creating a better life for those we love. Joe was a kind of rare personality that somehow made your day brighter with a smile or made your burden lighter with a word. His family and friends will miss his optimism and drive, as well as his constant joy any time good things happened to others. His passion for all he did was infectious, and his pride for those he loved, especially his steadfast adoration for Lucy and his daughters, is admired by all who knew him, especially those who proudly call him family. Across the country and on both coasts, Joe’s loss is felt to the core, a testament to his character and positive impact on the countless lives he touched. Never has there been a more proud mother than Dianne. His love for Lucy, Illyana, and Moira, no doubt, lives on as he continues to guide and protect them with a love that is now eternal.
