The story of
John was born on July 26,1942 in Ottawa Illinois and passed away August 25, 2024 at the age of 82. He moved to Virginia at a very young age with his military family . He spent a lot of time fishing and diving for mussel. He spent several years in the service some of which was overseas. Upon his discharge, and spending time in Minnesota he fell in love and married. This marriage produced his only child. John was married and divorced several times after and as a single man moved to Long Beach Ca. to help a friend as she was battling cancer. He found the Long Beach Senior Center and had become a regular patron. For twenty year you would see him playing pool, cards or fishing across from the Queen Mary. John would do anything for you if you needed a friend to talk to or a helping hand to. He was an amazing father in his later years of life and a more amazing grandpa. John is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fritz and his grandson Justin. John is survived by his daughter Shannon ( whom he named after the Shenandoah mountains in his beloved Virginia) and her husband Robert and their two sons Case and Carson. His brother Bill and his children Tony and Julie . His niece and nephew and sister in law Carl, Amy and Enid. Many friends Leonard, Harriett and Elyse, all of which were family to him. It is so very hard to say goodbye to you dad but I know you are not in pain anymore. Until we see each other again rest in love.
