Jean Gerrard (née Glasgow) aged 70, beloved wife, mom, grandma and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 2, 2024, at her home in Gilbert, Arizona. Jean’s story began on May 9, 1954, the oldest child to Billy and Rita Glasgow. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Jean was a graduate of Shawlands Academy and furthered her education at Langside College in Glasgow where she qualified as a Nursery Nurse, dedicating her early years nurturing young minds. Once she married and had children of her own she used her experience to raising her family.
Jean was known for her outgoing and friendly personality; she was truly the life of the party. Always ready with a caring smile and a warm embrace, never meeting a stranger. Her love and care extended to her hobbies; she was a skilled craftswoman, proficient in doll making, sewing, and knitting, which brought joy, not only to herself, but also to those fortunate enough to receive one of her creations.
A devoted mother and amazing grandma, Jean found her greatest joy in her grandchildren. She spent countless hours babysitting and attending their activities, always cheering them on with pride. Her love and support were the foundations of their lives.
Jean embraced life’s adventures, often going “glamping” with her husband John. Many of these would include children and grandchildren, where she created cherished memories during those special trips.
She leaves behind her loving husband, John, her children, Tony, Melanie, Suzy, and Iain, her children-in-law, Jeff, Amber and Samantha as well as her cherished grandchildren, Savannah, Aidan, Emily, Andrew, Fiona, Henry, Camden, and Melanie. Jean is also survived by her siblings, Billy, Anne, and Ian. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, George.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held in Gilbert, Arizona on July 28th 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at (https://ocrahope.org).
Rest in peace, Jean, mom, grandma. You have left a legacy of love and joy that will continue to inspire all of us.
