James Joseph Hernandez "Jamie", born on September 3, 1986, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on May 26, 2024, in Portland, Oregon. He was a beloved son of Sherri Blackwell and Luis (Nancy) Hernandez. James leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever be cherished by his children Carina Burrell, Larissa Rivera, Braeden Hernandez and Oakland Hernandez. In addition to being a father and son, Jamie was also a caring brother to Bobby (Ruthi) Newman; Justin Hernandez; Megan (Chris) Browder; Jessica (Rick) McBride. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Throughout his life journey as a construction worker and wildlife firefighter, Jamie touched the lives of many with his unwavering dedication to hard work and service. His commitment to protecting nature's beauty through firefighting endeared him to those around him. One could often find Jamie basking in the serenity of the outdoors near water - whether it was fishing by the lake or sharing a laugh with friends. His infectious laugh and good natured humor he shared with his family and friends was abundant. Jamie's spirit will continue to live on through the memories he created with those closest to him. The impact he made during his time here is immeasurable - leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
