The story of
Inge H. Stene of Aurora CO died April 26, 2024, after 82 years of having made the world a better place for friends and family alike. He is survived by his stepchildren, Terri (Joe) Calomino and Brenden Henry; grandchildren, Karrie (Kevin) Nork and Joe (Tara) Calomino; great-grandchildren, Lindzie, Caleb, Joey, and Tristan; his partner, Roxanne Nolan; sister, May (Harold) Semb; nieces, Brit Semb, Vibeke Semb, and Randi Lahme; nephew Sven Lahme; and many other dear family members and friends in the US and abroad. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herlof and Iris Stene; his wife, Phyllis Stene; his sisters, Liv Stene and Bjorg Lahme; and friends too numerous to mention. Inge immigrated to the US from Norway in 1961, having sailed on the Oslofjord for 8 days to make the journey. He spent 5 days in New York before flying to Denver where he arrived on a Thursday, went fishing on Saturday, attended church on Sunday and started work on Monday. He was later drafted in to the Army where he served for 2 years before enlisting in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic working on fighters for 4 years and serving in Viet Nam. As a stone and brick mason by trade, Inge's work lives on in many beautiful homes and businesses throughout the Denver and metro area. But more important than that, Inge's legacy is the love, humor, close bonds, and lasting friendships that were an inherent part of his personality. He will be missed terribly. A celebration of Inge's very full life will take place from 9:00-noon on June 23, 2024 at Hero's, 16070 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO. In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions may be made in Inge's name to The Morton Arboretum where a tree will be planted in his honor.
