The story of
Gerald "Jerry" Joseph Torrisi passed away on January 11th, 2024 at his residence in Cypress, California. He was born in Methuen, Massachusetts on December 17th, 1940. His father's name is Carmelo Torrisi, and his mother's maiden name is Amelia Valerio. He is survived by his brother, Dennis Torrisi, who resides with his wife, Judy, and their children in New Hampshire. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Laurie Cheney, and her sons, Jack Cheney who resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Joseph Maxwell, who resides in Henderson, Nevada. Gerald met Joan Bibbs in 1965 and married her in 1982. Joan had two young girls, Laurie Bibbs (Cheney) and Debbie Bibbs, whom Gerald considered his children. He generously took his "family" on many an adventure, and thoroughly delighted in their enjoyment. Gerald received an A.S. degree as he was studying engineering. He began a career in the engineering field, but soon found a lucrative income selling insurance for Prudential Life Insurance. Gerald was a "natural" salesman due to his contagious charm and quick intelligence. He was a top salesman many times and worked for Prudential for many years. Gerald loved studying history and read many biographies of presidents and influential people. As a "talent" of his, he could recite all the presidents in order, from George Washington to President Biden. He loved watching TV, especially movies, and also reruns of Star Trek, Seinfeld, and Monk. His hobbies included playing golf, tennis, and poker. Gerald Joseph Torrisi was a self-made man, good at heart, and lived life the way he wanted to. The only epithet he wanted written was, "He was Okay." Gerald was more than "okay;" he was a star in our lives, which we are all thankful for.
