The story of
Evelyn Marie Dowdy Evelyn Marie (Williams) Dowdy was born on October 22, 1956 to the late Elmus Williams and Jessie Mae Leavell Davis in Indianapolis, IN. Evelyn received her education through the Indianapolis Public School system graduating from Arlington High School in Indianapolis, IN. Evelyn professed her love for Christ at a young age. Evelyn was a very lively, energetic person who lived life on her own terms. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, gambling at the casinos and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Evelyn relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 2011 and resided there until God called her home. On Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the age of 68, Evelyn departed this earthly life to join not only her parents Elmus and Jessie Mae, but also her devoted husband Larry Dowdy Sr and sisters Lula Williams Pennybaker and Bettie Bryant. Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory: sister Dr. Jeanette Jones of Indianapolis, IN, brother Leavell Davis Sr of Indianapolis, IN and daughters Shanika Williams of Glendale, AZ, Alicia Smith (Edward) of Indianapolis, IN and Yolanda Mitchell of Indianapolis, IN. Evelyn also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free! Miss me a little - but not for long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this journey that we all must take and each must go alone; It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go. - Edgar Albert Guest
