The story of
November 17, 1933 - November 20, 2024 Tucson, Arizona Edward Wright, Jr., age 91, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. He was born on November 17, 1933, in Athens, Georgia to the late Willie Ed Wright and Bessie Mae Wright. A proud graduate of Athens High & Industrial school, Edward joined the U. S. Air Force in 1951, where he dedicated over 26 years of service to his country. He rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant before retiring with honor. His military career was a testament to his discipline, leadership, and commitment. Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Delores Adkins Wright; his children, Darilyn Gadson, Edward Wright III (daughter in law Irma), Theatta (Tilly) Wright, and Tammara (Tammy) Wright; his grandchildren, Monique Gadson, Jermaine Gadson, Kindra Wright, Breanna Wright and Makia Wright, his great grandchildren, Auri Gadson and Alexandra Gadson; and his sisters, Marion Smith and Nancy (Lou) Blackstone. Edward is also survived by four sisters in law, one brother-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members, all of whom will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert Gadson, his parents, Willie Ed Wright and Bessie Mae Wright, and his sisters, Ella Butts and Ann Freeman. Outside of his military service, Edward enjoyed a rich life filled with passions for cooking and playing poker. His family and friends will remember him for his warm, sense of humor, and the care he took in making memories with those he loved. A private service for the immediate family will be held in accordance with Edward’s wishes. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered support and comfort throughout Edward’s life and in his final days.
