The story of
Edward Bruce Stauffer, born December 1, 1940 in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, succumbed to progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) on September 23, 2024. He was loved and cherished by many and is survived by his three daughters, Kay Jeanette, Kathryn Jane and Kelly Jo, four grandchildren, brother Sherwood, Marja-Leena (Ed’s wife of nearly 40 years) and his four stepchildren. He raised his daughters in the Episcopal Church and was unwavering in his faith. Ed grew up and lived in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania for many years, and was an ardent fan of his Pennsylvania Dutch (Deitsh) heritage. He played the ukulele and boomba and enjoyed speaking in dialect. Ed also resided in Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida and, most recently, Colorado. He remodeled two farmhouses in Cockeysville, MD and Schnecksville, PA; he was of Schneck lineage. Ed was most known for his sense of adventure (and an eternal passion for donut holes). His upbeat, friendly and charismatic personality drew people to him. He enjoyed sports like racquetball, golf and fishing. He traveled extensively, sharing many years of camping with his young daughters and motorhome adventures across the USA. Ed and Marja often visited her homeland, Finland. Ed's career was in the hardware business, including store ownership and regional sales. He retired as a business manager from Ace Hardware, having earned their top national sales award in 2001. Ed had wonderful rapport with coworkers and clients alike. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in Ed's name to CurePSP (curepsp.org/scientific2024) or Saint George Episcopal Church (stgeorgeshellertown.org). A celebration of life will be held in late October.
