Dennis Earl Brown, aged 70, passed away on December 18, 2024, in the home of his daughter in Layton, Utah. Born on July 5, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dennis spent his life dedicated to his family, his work, and his passions. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah; after marrying Cindy (Sanders) Stybe, they raised their children in North Salt lake.
Dennis graduated from Bountiful High School and immediately began working alongside his father at a local refinery. His drive for professional growth led him to acquire specialized welding certifications through vocational training. His career flourished at Sulzer Pump, where he worked diligently for 36 years, retiring as a respected Parts/Pumps Repair Specialist.
His faith was an integral part of his life, actively participating in services at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His faith extended beyond the walls of the church, influencing his actions and relationships. Following the loss of his wife to cancer in 2018, Dennis found solace and companionship in the recovery community of A.A., where he was proud of his recovery journey and the relationships he built. His Shih Tzu, Dusty, was a comfort and constant companion to Dennis.
Dennis's zest for life was evident in his hobbies. An enthusiast of the outdoors, he loved spending weekends hunting with his beloved dog Jackie, camping and boating, particularly at Pineview Reservoir. He shared his love for motorcycles, dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and boats with his daughters, creating lasting memories; looking forward to annual family trips to the dunes. His true passion was being a father and grandpa. His grandsons made him smile until his last days with us.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Glenn Shill and LaRita Willis Brown, his wife Kori Brown, and his nephew Christopher Paul Brown. He is survived by his daughter Kelby (Cody) and grandsons Brix and Baus Barlow of Layton; stepdaughter Jamie (Margie) Backman of Cottonwood Heights; siblings Judy (Ralph) Wiseman of Bountiful, Daniel Brown of Woodscross, Norris Kelly (Mary) Brown of Centerville, Susan (Rex) Skinner of Orem, and JoAnne (Allen) Freestone of North Salt Lake.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28th at 10:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1533 N 1075 W, Farmington, UT.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to further efforts to end the stigma around substance use disorder, expand access to affordable treatment and recovery support as well as educate our communities.
