The story of
Dedra Lucille Hawkins born 11/03/1970 passed away this Thanksgiving, 11/28/2024, after a long battle with her health. Dede was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her mother and father, Robert and Elva Hawkins, 2 daughters, Kayla(Ross) Prince and Loni Hawkins, and her 5 brothers; Ron (Laurie) Hawkins, Tracy Hawkins, Darrel (Marica) Hawkins, Darin Hawkins, and Chris (Jaime) Hawkins, multiple cousins including Heather Twiss(Pam) who was more of a sister to her then a cousin. Dede was a beloved aunt to 7 nieces and nephews and great aunt to 9. Family was everything to her and she loved being a mother and aunt. Dede was a bright light to all those she met. She always set out to make people laugh each day with her amazing jokes. Dede was a kind and loving individual who always worried about her loved ones. In her time on this Earth she was always going out of her way to do what she could for others even if she didn't have much to give. Her greatest achievement in life, she always said, were her two daughters. She was alway extremely proud of whatever they did and would brag to anybody about their accomplishments, no matter how small. She always made sure her daughters were celebrated in any way she could, from Christmas pajamas to a yearly birthday movie tradition. Dede suffered with her health for years and had many of ups and downs, but it didn’t dull the bright, funny and kind spirit she always had. Even though she was unable to recover from her battle this time, she kept her spirit until the end. She is preceded in death by her Grandpa and Grandma Robert and Lucille Hawkins, Uncle Franklin Hawkins, Grandma and Grandpa Olive and Lawrence Stone, Great Grandpa and Grandma Frank and Mary Louisa (Elliot) Durfey, and uncles Verdel and Kenneth Stone. A celebration of her life will be held 12-09-2024 at 10 am at the Salem 4th ward church building. Dede’s family invites all who knew and loved her to attend to share their memories of her. 25 w Apple Blossom Way, Salem, UT 84653. Dede’s family also wants to give their sincerest thanks to the staff members of both the Beehive home of Salem, UT and the Mission at Alpine Valley, who took such great care of her in her final times.
