"Grief is the price we pay for love."
David passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2025. He has been reunited at the rainbow bridge with his beloved fur-baby Biggie. Their bond was wider than the universe. They are side by side together forever.
David is survived by his beloved dogs Brown Dog, Willow, Luna, and Milo. He is also survived by his father, Edwin Gfeller, his mother and stepfather, Tonia and Frank Cruz, siblings, Jacqueline Gfeller, Julie Cruz, Crystal Cruz and her partner Dawn Lopes, Elizabeth and Danny Darosa, along with many nieces and nephews and other family members. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Roland and Georgia Gfeller and his maternal grandparents, Marvin and Jeanne Miller.
He is also survived by his Arizona family Rich and Sarah Troiano, his lifelong best friend, Chris McCormack, and many dear friends.
David loved to tinker. Cars were always his passion above and beyond everything. He tried to build his own drift race car, but he had a vision of what he wanted it to be and always did what he could not to stray from the vision, but it always needed to be better. He also had a passion for guns, and in typical David fashion LOL any weapon he acquired had to be completely disassembled and modified until he felt it was perfect. He loved working with his hands and learning about anything. He learned the HVAC trade and thrived in his own business.,
He was a gentle, genuine, and kind soul who touched so many people in meaningful ways. He loved with his entire being and if you were part of his circle, you knew it.
A quote from one of his many tattoos:
“I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.”
In honor of David’s life and his love of animals, donations can be made in his memory to the Arizona Humane Society at Memorial & Tribute Gifts - Arizona Humane Society.
