David Earle Clough was born in Denver, Colorado on December 2, 1944 to Edward and Shirley Ann Clough. He passed away peacefully on July 2, 2023 after a long illness.
He was raised in Lakewood, Colorado, attended Catholic Schools graduating from Regis High School in 1963. He was always athletic, participating in baseball, football and track. He was especially proud of winning 1st place in discus at the State Meet in 1962 with a record that stood for many years. He also attended Western State College and Regis University.
He met his wife, Vonnie, of 55 years when he was 14. They were married on September 9. 1967 and were blessed with four children: Brett, Gerritt, Darrin and Brenna. He loved spending time with his children and friends camping, boating, water skiing, fishing, riding ATV’s and snowmobiling. He and Vonnie enjoyed traveling from Hong Kong to Russia and many wonderful destinations in between.
In 1967, Dave joined the Navy Reserve. In 1968 he was deployed to Vietnam on the U.S.S. Constellation where he served as a Seaman until his discharge in 1970.
He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 7 from 1966 until his death. In the 1970’s, he served The Elitch Theatre Company as Master Properties and House Steward. He was proud to be affiliated with the Central City Opera for 29 seasons, most of which he again served as Head Props and Union Steward. He was also President of Local 7 for 14 years.
When Currigan Hall was built in 1969, he was part of the House Crew. In 1990, he became The Director of Operations of the new Convention Complex.
He will be remembered for the friendship and care he gave to others. He spent countless hours drafting and delivering numerous eulogies and performing wedding ceremonies. He was proud to give his time and effort to family and friends in whatever way he could.
Dave was preceded in death by his sister Linda and his oldest son Brett (Andrea). Dave is survived by his wife Vonnie, his two sons Gerritt (Kathy), Darrin (Rebecca), his daughter Brenna, his eight grandchildren Dana (28), Colton (25), Ryanne (24), Erika (24), Ashton (20), Alex (19), Zach (15), Jesse (8) and great granddaughter Lainey Jo (2 months).
