Christopher Alan Moudy aged 83, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024. He was born on January 13, 1941 in North Tonawanda New York. Growing up, Chris cherished moments spent on his grandparents' farm, fostering a deep appreciation for rural life. These formative experiences likely influenced his subsequent career choices. Chris started his career path early, taking on an after-school job at a nearby hardware store. As he gained experience, he transitioned to work at Strome's Dairy Farm, located on the picturesque West Hill of Warsaw, New York. His journey continued with a position at Peddle’s Hardware Store in Perry, New York.
This industrious spirit led him to enlist in the US Air Force in 1959, serving honorably until 1966 as a Senior Airman. During his time stationed in Felixstowe, England, he met and married Rita Reilly, starting a family that would become the cornerstone of his life.
After military service, Chris settled in Wyoming County, New York, and returned to farming. Later he left for a career at the Rochester Telephone Company. His career continued with the Village of Perry. In 1980, he embarked on a new chapter in Colorado, where he found love again with Martha Patton, they were married in 1983. Together, they built a life filled with adventure and purpose, as Chris spent 26 years serving the City of Aurora - Water Department until his well-deserved retirement in 2007.
Throughout his life, Chris remained true to his roots as an outdoorsman, finding solace in the majestic landscapes of Colorado. His skilled hands crafted beautiful wooden creations, reflecting both his practicality and artistic side. But above all, Chris cherished his role as a family man, he was a loving father, who fostered his love of reading and exceptional work ethic in his children. With 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, he reveled in every moment spent watching them grow, attending countless sports games, school performances, and quiet moments of connection. Chris had a passion for genealogy, journaling and sharing family history.
Chris's legacy extends far beyond his immediate family. He was a steadfast friend to many, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. His commitment to community service continued well into retirement, as he volunteered at a local food bank, embodying the spirit of giving that defined him.
