Charyn Couch, passed away January 2, 2025, after a long, hard fight with a terrible, horrible disease. She fought the battle hard, but her body finally gave up the struggle and she succumbed to the war.
My name is Cliff Couch, writing a letter to the love of my life, Charyn Couch, expressing my love and care, a highlight of your journey through life:
Hello Dear,
On July 20, 1953 in Denver, Colorado, your parents, Raymond and Ann Romanski, welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world and named you Sharon. You were welcomed by your big sister Cynthia, and two years later joined by a baby brother, David. Your family grew up in Denver and all three siblings graduated from North High School. Cynthia now lives in Iowa City, Iowa, and Dave recently moved to Eloy, Arizona.
So how do I come into this picture? You worked part-time as bookkeeper for my dad at his service station in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After being discharged from the military, I used to help him also. I remember one day this cute blond girl came up to me and asked me “Do you like Elvis Presley?” Dumbfounded, of course I said yes. The next words were “Good! Go get tickets because we are going!” Our lives progressed in different directions, but 23 years later I married this cute blond girl. We celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary last November.
From an earlier marriage, you had a daughter named Erin (John) Stacey, and 3 grandchildren - Tristyn, Leon, and Avery. Of course, they are our pride and joy. With me, you inherited my little girl named Alyson. Don’t forget your sister-in-law, Diana Couch in Phoenix.
And the name Charyn? When we were filling out our marriage license application, I deliberately wrote your name as “Charyn” because I always treated you as a unique individual. You were thrilled with that and used Charyn for the rest of your life. Yes, you were unique and loved by many. Later in life you worked for H&R Block as a tax preparer. To this day I still receive calls requesting an appointment with you. Yes, my dear Charyn, you were special and will always be missed. Thank you for the wonderful journey.
Her loving husband, Cliff
