Carmen was a remarkable woman who gave birth to four children but became a mother to many more. An Antiguan native, she came to America with dreams of creating a better life for her surviving three children. In America, she found additional children to love and cherish as her own. Carmen dedicated over 20 years of her life working as a correctional officer for the Arizona State Prison, from which she eventually retired. She lived a full and impactful life, always giving her all to those she cared for. In her final days, Carmen expressed a heartfelt wish to return to her home land Antigua.
