The story of
On Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, Billy Ray Long graduated to heaven to ever be with the Lord. Bill was born in Corpus Christi Texas on April 22, 1935 to Troy Lee and Nellie Mae (Morris) Long. He was the eldest of nine children, six brothers and two sisters. As a teenager, he left home to attend Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas, to answer the call of God on his life. There he met and married his sweetheart, and lifelong partner in life and ministry Katherine Lucille Campbell. They ministered in children’s evangelism in the early part of their lives, then went on to pastor in Monticello, Utah, Calhan, Colorado, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. During this time he also completed his Masters of Divinity. Bill and Kathy loved children and were actively involved in the lives of the children in the church daycare and churches. Every year, up until his latter years, Bill raised a garden and he and Kathy would share much of its produce with many of their congregation, neighbors, friends, and family. Bill loved the Lord, loved God‘s Word, and loved God‘s church. Kathy, his wife, preceded him to glory, and he is survived by his youngest sister Sharon Kay (Long) Ford , his children Tammy Lynn Martocci (Dominic), and William Alan Long, with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A Home Going service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 30th, 2024 at River Rock Church, 4135 Centennial Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
