The story of
Alexander “Sandy” Farquhar was born in Spokane Washington in 1944, to Al and Wilma (Brown) Farquhar. He passed peacefully in November of 2024. He loved the out of doors, road trips, traveling, and singing, and the Lord gifted him with a beautiful voice and a sharp mind. He lived in the Pacific Northwest during the early part of his life, attending Pacific University as a proud member of the Alpha Zeta fraternity and the tennis team. The highlight of Sandy’s working years was his time spent on the Apollo launches in Cape Canaveral. From Florida he returned to the Northwest, where he spent time coaching his son Brian in baseball, and watching his daughter Sherry in theater productions. After his older children graduated from high school, Sandy, his wife Nan and daughter Alix headed to the warm sunshine of Tucson, Arizona, where he lived out his life, supporting Alix in her academic pursuits and shared love of travel. He was blessed with four grandchildren that he loved dearly and was so proud of. Sandy suffered Alzheimer’s. But as an old friend and neighbor was reflecting: “Sandy was bigger than life, and we choose to remember him that way.” Donations in honor of him and in support of veterans and first responders and families, may be made to: garysinisefoundation.org
