William D Nance Jr passed away on the morning of Thursday, May 25, 2023, after a long-fought illness. He was 79 years old. He was formerly from Roanoke, North Carolina. He was the writer in our family, we all went to him when we had to compose resumes, letters, obituaries, etc. He did it with such eloquence and grace. Dad hang in there as we do our best to write our first obituary without you. After high school, Bill started his career in the Air Force. After he served his country, he moved the family to Tucson, Arizona where he worked for many years at Control Data where he made many lifelong friends. After that, he was a successful production manager where his amazing writing skills came in handy as he wrote many manuals/procedures. The job he enjoyed most was Vice President at Policy Electronics to which he had the pleasure of working with his two oldest children. From there he was fortunate to head into retirement. Anyone who knew Bill would tell you that while his work was important to him, he did not consider it his greatest achievement. Nothing thrilled him more than spending time with his family. Bill and Janet (Eicher) had three children together. After a separation of 14 years of marriage, they remained friends and their number one priority was their children. Bill is survived by Janet Eicher. Bill was the proud father to Dawn Rene’e (Andrew) Zakutney of Chandler, AZ, William D Nance III (Shawn Walsh - Companion) of Queen Creek, AZ, and Mari Janine Langan of Mesa, AZ, His grandchildren Tanner (Teddy) Carver-Dyson of Chandler, AZ, Ryli Danyal Langan of Mesa, AZ. Great Grandchild Saylor Laine Dyson of Chander, AZ. Nieces Maria (Jim) Brink of Chandler, AZ, and Katie Warner of Stacey MN. Nephews, Jamie (Jennifer) Bourget of Delaware, OH. James Warner of Stacey MN, Hunter Brink and Alex Brink of Chandler, AZ. Bill is survived by his current wife, Barbara Nance. His sister Penny Warner. His 3 children, Dawn Rene’e Zakutney, William Nance III, and Mari Janine Langan. Loving devoted niece Maria Brink. Stepdaughters Sherri (Willis) Lee and their children, Andrew, Emily, and Rachel. Leah (Brandon) Rogers. His grandchildren, nieces and nephew, and countless friends and extended family who felt his love through the years. He cheered us on from the grandstands of graduation ceremonies, weddings, and then from a distance as we achieved successes in our adult lives. He was never too busy to lend a hand and we were never too grown up to take advice from our beloved dad. He loved being on his computer and sending e-mails. Bill is preceded in death by his parents William D and Marion Nance and his sister Sherry Bourget. Deep in our hearts, you’ll always stay. Loved and missed every day.
