The story of Richard
Ricky Guevara, 23, passed away suddenly on February 19, 2023, in Tucson, AZ. He was born to Michelle and Waldemar Guevara in Minneapolis, MN on February 5, 2000. By the age of 2, it was clear that Ricky's passion was music, and he attacked the passion with gusto. He was a member of the Tucson Boys Chorus, appeared as a supernumerary with the Arizona Opera Company in 2011, performing in Tucson and Phoenix in front of thousands. For many years he toured Tucson at Christmas time with his music mentor and coach, Ray Funk, playing and singing for children and the elderly. Ricky was also a talented music producer and singer/songwriter, and built a music studio in his home. Before his death, he had written and produced more than 400 songs. He played guitar, standup bass, and keyboards. Ricky's life was filled with both beauty and tragedy, and his experiences molded him into an honest, nonjudgmental, intelligent, compassionate, and gentle man. He embraced his Marfan Syndrome diagnosis in 2019, and loved to show off his contortion poses. Ricky was funny, inquisitive, genuine, generous, and had a magical way of making everyone he met feel special and heard. He never met a stranger. Ricky was preceded in death by his very special Gram Carol and Grandpa Mick, Aunt Rhonda, Aunt Jordan, Great Grandma Hoff, and his dog Koda. Ricky is survived by his mother and father, Michelle and Waldemar Guevara; the love of his life Lauren Neal; favorite uncle and namesake Rick Shoemaker; favorite aunts Kathy Albright, Lorna W.B.L., Nancy Carter, and Tia Belinda; cousin Jackie; Bonus Mom Octavia Jackson; very special lifelong friends Cougar Woods, Alora Woods, and Cailida Reyes; "friends like family" Airryn, Nico, Maria, and Tanner; co-conspirator cousins Yanelli, Derek, and Cole; and many special friends, all of whom Ricky often spoke. Ricky was one of a kind and will be forever missed. Our hearts are broken to lose him so early, but we are so grateful for every minute we had with him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., at The Mark, 4653 E. Pima St., Tucson (Pima and Swan).
