The story of
Our beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather, Companion and Friend, was reunited January 3rd 2025 with his parents Lonicio and Cora Rodriguez, As well as his four sisters, Cora, Stella, Ruth and Lila. And three children, Debora, Susan and Ricky. He was born January 27th 1932, in Allison Colorado. As a child, he would travel to Farmington, New Mexico in the summer and work on his Grandfather's farm. Around the age of Thirteen, he would shine shoes downtown on Broadway, where he received an autographed 5 dollar tip, when he polished the famous Nat King Cole's shoes. He married Rita Archuleta, September 1950. They made their home in Oklahoma City where he was stationed as a baker in the Army. Later returned to Utah starting a family of six, Debora, (Jerry), Susan, Shauna, Sheryl, (Mike), Pamela, (Scott) and Ricky. He and Rita were later divorced. He was learning the traits of concrete and excavating, From his father-in-law, Max Archuleta. Later, establishing his own concrete company for 60 years. He continued to work to the age of 78 doing multiple jobs he loved. Richard had a great sense of adventure. He had a love for western movies, camping, fishing, and ventures out to Wendover, Nevada. He enjoyed concerts and always seemed to have good luck with gambling. A place where he was well know and loved, La Hacienda, with his eternal love for beans and chili, added fried ice cream for dessert. He is survived by his only sister Martha Mortensen, daughters: Shauna, Sheryl, Pamela and from a previous relationship, Trudy. Companion Cathy Walton. Grandchildren: 24, Great-Grandchildren: 40, Great-Great-Grandchildren: 9. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Veterans of America Hospital. With thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for him at the VA. In celebration of his life, there will be a private service.
