Norma Jean Wilson was born in the home of David and Beulah(Hunt)Wilson on April 4,1937 in Mosca, Colorado. She was embraced by God on December 12, 2023 at Saint Anthony Main Campus Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer.
While Norma Jean (affectionately called GiGi or Geeg, by her many nieces and nephews) didn't win the battle against cancer, she had overcome many adverse life experiences which influenced her life choices and helped her support many people experiencing lifes difficulties.
Geeg was a lifetime learner and knowledge seeker. She began her educational journey at Mosca Schools from which she graduated in 1955. She later went on to Otero College, Adams State College and later received Masters degrees from the University of Colorado and Colorado State University.
Norma Jean began her teaching career in New Mexico in 1960 and she retired in 1993 as a librarian from Lake County Schools in Leadville, Colorado. She inspired all her students and many people to love reading, music, travel and education. She maintained life long relationships with many of her students. Norma was a member of many professional and educational organizations, churches and 12 step programs. She played the piano, painted and belly danced. Although she disliked swimming, she made herself learn.
Gigi is survived by her brother, David Merl Wilson Jr (Sue), by her Sister, Sydney Tool, by her two sons, Richard Krueger (Diane), and Dan Lewis (Kim). She was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was a grandmother of 3, Ryan and Nick (Lewis) and Gabe (Krueger) with an unexpected but exceptional bond with her youngest grandson, Gabe, whom she was united with in 2015. She was proceeded in death by her parents and step-mother, a sister, a step brother, nephew, niece-in-law, and long line of Hunt and Wilson kinfolk.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her remains will be placed in the Monte Vista, Colorado cemetery with her Hunt and Wilson relatives. Additional details will be posted on her Facebook account as they become available.
Donations in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
