Marlon Laydale Gaines Sr was born on October 7th 1956 in Phoenix Arizona. He grew up in San Diego California and was the oldest of four children blessed to Arie E Gaines, who preceded him in death.
Marlon was involved in many community activities during his youth, but his love for baseball was massive. He played for many years and was one of the most talented players on any team he played for, with his mother often serving as the team mother.
He attended Stockton Elementary, Memorial Jr High and Lincoln High school in San Diego.
Marlon had a great singing voice and you would hear him singing all of the time whether in his room or in the shower. He also had a sense of humor always saying comical things and playing tricks on his sisters.
When he graduated from high school, he landed a job with the City of San Diego, where he worked for many years and later he worked for the San Diego Transit system.
Marlon had a very vivid memory of things that most people would forget and was very observant of the things around him. Although life was not always perfect for him, he loved his family and friends including his son, grandchildren, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marlon leaves to mourn his passing, his (son) Marlon Laydale Gaines Jr, 6 grandchildren, (Sisters) Yvonne Peck, Cheryl Gaines, Shelley Gaines, Uncle Pete Martin, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
We will miss you here on earth Marlon, but it was time for your spirit to be free so you could be made whole again. We believe you are now living your best life with God the Father and his son Jesus. We love you!
