The story of
Leslie Carol Owen left this world Thursday, November 29, 2023. She was born on December 24,1940 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Betty Jane Selby and John Tamburo. She was adopted by her stepfather Max B. Ives and raised in Iowa. She attended Valley High School (class of 1959) and went on to put herself through nursing school while raising three children and working. She graduated as an OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner. She loved watching cooking shows, collecting recipes, cooking, baking, watching British television, and reading. Her collection of books was unparalleled. She was married to Donald Owen from 1959-1991. They moved to Arizona in 1981 where she worked as a NP for Planned Parenthood, Family Planning, and then Southwest Fertility. She was an amazing provider to her patients and was adored by all who worked with her. She is survived by a family that she loved fiercely and that returned that love equally. Two sisters: Connie Anneberg (John) of Des Moines, and Vickie Medley (Bill) of Houston, TX. ,two half-brothers John and Joel Tamburo (Illinois), three children: Jeff Owen (Betty) of Chandler, AZ, Joan Clarke (Andy) of Mesa, AZ and Michael (Katherine) of Pensacola, FL., seven grandsons: Michael Patton, Justin Owen, Jamie Westrom, Alex Patton, Nick Patton, Max Owen and Matthew Owen, ten great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. They all share her love of laughter and family. She will be dearly missed by all of her family, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, PBS, and Doordash.
