Penny Holmes of Portland, passed away September 12th 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born September 24th 1942 in McMinnville, Oregon to Lester and Ruth Hyslop. She was the 3rd of 9 children.
Penny's father was a logger and she was raised in multiple small towns in the Pacific NW. She owned and operated the Coney Island tavern in Oregon city in the 70's and 80's. Later she worked for Jim Fischer Nissan, and retired from Safeway.
Penny Loved spending time with her grandchildren, often taking them for the weekend from their infancy thru their teens! She was intentional to spend time with her family and was always a generous soul.
Penny is survived by her son Daniel Holmes, Daughter in law Traci Holmes, Grandchildren Natasha DeBenedetti (Holmes), & Nicholas Holmes, 6 great grandchildren...Eden H, Madison D, Valerie H, Bridgette H, Avery D, and Kaia D. Her brother George Hyslop of Portland, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
