Ernest J Villegas (Ernie/Big E) 73, of Globe AZ, passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side, on December 27th at Brookdale North, Mesa, AZ. Ernie attended Holy Angels Catholic School, K-8, and graduated from Globe High School in 1968. Ernie had a zest for life, which led him to skills in carpentry and contracting and later to a successful concrete business in Corona, CA. His biggest accomplishment began with his passion for physical fitness, where he competed in body-building competitions, earning many trophies through the years. Ernie was the proud owner of “Ernie’s Elite Team” for over 20 years, and specialized in contest prep, weight loss, diet, and one on one fitness training for men and women. He inspired several of his clients to become personal trainers or to begin their own business in body-building and weight training. Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Petra Villegas, of Globe, AZ. He is survived by his children, Nicole Lynch, Monique Rowlett (Kevin), Jodie Villegas, and Ernie Villegas Jr. and his grandchildren, Evan, Allison, Camryn, Aiden, Collin, Avery and Cameron. He is also survived by his siblings, Diane Plevich (Chuck), Danny Villegas (Patty), Sammy Villegas (Eva), Raymond Villegas (David), Tony Villegas(Andrea), Bernice Villegas-White (Larry), Bonnie Atilano (George), and an uncle to many nieces, nephews. Ernie will be missed by all. A special thanks to the staff of Hospice of the West and Brookdale North Assisted Living.
