The story of
Early in the morning of Wednesday, July 17th 2024, Anita Borrego, aged 79, began her journey from this life. She passed peacefully in her own bed in her own house in Westminster, Colorado with her cat by her side. She was born to Theresa Rodriguez (Torrez) and Charles Borrego on February 3rd, 1945 in North Denver, Colorado. Anita was a Mama at 17 with the birth of Annette followed mere months later with Vincent and some years later with Andrés. Anita cherished her many friendships, new and old. Anita is preceded in death by her mother, Theresa, her father Charles Sr., her Stepfather Max Sigala Sr., and her Siblings Manuel, Tobias, Rose, and Modesto Borrego. She is survived by her three children, Annette Martinez, Vincent Martinez, and Andres Martinez; her siblings Max Jr. Sigala, Gloria Sigala, Christina Maxine Sigala, Charles Borrego, Charlene, Richard, Debra, and Donna Borrego as well as many cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was the proud Grandmother to ten grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was also a loving “pet parent” to many dogs, cats, and other 4-legged relatives. It was Anita’s desire to be cremated and to have her ashes distributed among close loved ones, scattered in some of her beloved sites, and to be placed at Mama Theresa’s gravesite. A private ceremony is planned for close relatives.
