The story of
Steve Evans was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1950. He was a spirited youth that enjoyed playing football in the fall and ran track in the spring. His natural sense of adventure led him to a job at the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. He spent many years working in hospitality and met people from around the world everyday. He forged friendships with co-workers that were also far away from home and enjoyed a very strong sense of community that lasted for many years. Life brought him to Flagstaff and later the Phoenix area where he raised his family and sought other opportunities including serving Veterans at the VA Hospital as he would say, “Happy to serve those who served”. Steve is survived by son Joshua, daughter Ashey, their mother Lori, daughter in law Alyssa and grandchildren Marissa, Fiona and Sara. Steve’s greatest joy by far was his family. He was always there to help his kids even as they grew to adulthood. When Steve became a grandpa he spent many days taking care of his newborn grandchildren and then later volunteering at their elementary school where he was known as Grandpa. He has left a caring legacy with the kids that he helped and countless staff and faculty. There will be a Celebration of Life for Steve at the Veterans Memorial at Rio Vista Park in Peoria, AZ on Sunday April 28th, 2024. A private casting ceremony will be carried out by the family in the coming months. Condolence cards can be sent to: The Evans Family P.O. Box 2252 Peoria, AZ 85380 In lieu of flowers the family will accept donations that will be presented to Blue Horizons Elementary School in Buckeye Arizona
