The story of
Ronald Louis Roddewig, Sr. was taken home by his Heavenly Father on March 21, 2024. He was born in Puyallup, WA, the youngest of five children. His parents, Mildred Louis (Mary Elizabeth) and William George Roddewig, preceded him in death, as did two older brothers James (Jim) Roddewig and Duane Roddewig. He is survived by two older sisters, Shirley Miner of Hayfield, MN, and Sharon Ryan of Spanaway, WA. Ron served in the United States Navy for 9 years, both active duty and the Navy Reserves. He was stationed on the USS Jouett during the Vietnam war. He was a distinguished serviceman who studied electronics and was assigned to maintain and repair the computer(s) that controlled the ship(s). He received an honorable discharge. He met Marvis Grace Anderson in 1965 at a USO dance in San Francisco, CA. They wed after six weeks of meeting and remained married for 19 years. The union produced four children: Ronald Louis Roddewig II, 58, of Livermore, CA; Rene Leann Roddewig, 55, of Stockton, CA; Jason Matthew Roddewig, 44, of Stockton, CA; and, Anne Louise Roddewig, 41, of Port Townsend, WA. Marvis preceded him in death in 2020. Ron had a daughter, Kiraleigh Antionette McCamon, 36, from his relationship with Bonnie McCamon. Bonnie preceded him in death in 2022. Another daughter, Harlee Darby, 25, was born to his relationship with Diana Darby. He did not recognize Harlee as his own but other family members believe she is his child. It should be noted that Ron’s eldest child, Ruthann Robinson, 58, of Los Angeles, CA, was born to his relationship with Dyann M. Lyon. Ruthann was adopted at birth. Ron was enigma to many in his family, from most of whom he was estranged. He was a complicated individual who had many difficulties in his life. It is hoped that in death he will find the peace and happiness that was so elusive to him on earth. Ron is survived by 2 sisters, 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 beloved pet chihuahuas, Cheech and Mocha, who were his constant companions. His funeral service will be held at the National Cemetary at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the American Heart Association.
