The story of
David Anthony Rusch, aged 59, passed away on March 18, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Great Uncle, Caregiver and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. David was born on April 22, 1964 in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he spent his first few years, then moved to Los Angeles, California where he spent his formative years. He took classes for Early Childhood Development at Santa Monica College, and later became a Preschool Teacher for about 10 years. Besides his love for teaching and children, he was an accomplished drummer, who was passionate about music, and enjoyed acting. In his own words, “Grew up in Venice, Surfing, Acting and playing Drums, Keyboard, Son of a Jazz Great, Caregiver, Student of Life and a Preacher in his own unique way.” David Anthony Rusch, also known as ‘Rufus’ was unequivocally his sister's biggest fan, and his unconditional love & support will be greatly missed. David was always quick with a joke, as his distinctive sense of humor carried him through this thing we call life. If you were lucky, you may have seen him doing stand up on amateur night at a Comedy Club, or better yet, playing drums at one of his many gigs in the 80’s & 90’s. David Anthony Rusch is survived by his Sister, Dana Marie Davis, his Nephew, Miles Davis (Alexis), his Nieces Macy & Maya Davis, his Grandniece, Mylah Davis, many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, many wonderful Friends and his love, Olivia. There will be a celebration of life for David this fall, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his sister, Dana, to help with cremation costs.
